Gilda's Club Middle Tennessee cancer support Nashville donation check presentation

Janey Street & Friends Performs for Benefit of Gilda’s Club Nashville

Janey Street performed to a full house last week at City Winery Nashville in support of her new album, My Side of Paradise available now on Blue Élan Records. The show opened, as many Nashville gigs do, with a roundtable of eminently talented singer-songwriters sharing their most recent compositions as well as their biggest hits.  The night was dedicated not only to the celebration of Janey’s new work, but a celebration of the ongoing good work of Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee.

Special guest, and childhood BFF, Janis Ian mesmerized the audience with her emotional vocals and brilliant guitar work on her hits, “Society’s Child” and “At Seventeen”, remarking that “without Janey, there may not have been a Janis Ian.” Janey and Janis along with an array of songwriters Stephanie Bentley, Sam Tate, Lance Carpenter and Rob Wolf helped raise close to $1700 for the cause.  As a surprise to no one, Janey’s label, Blue Élan and owner, Kirk Pasich, elected to match what was raised that night. This week Janey and her manager were thrilled to be able to present a check for over $3300 to help Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee continue their amazing work.

Gilda’s Club, is an organization close to Street’s heart. “I lost my whole immediate family to cancer and the folks at Gilda’s Club helped me through the worst times in my life. Whether you are a loved one of someone who has cancer or you are the one who has cancer, you will find that the free support you get from Gilda’s Club is a Godsend. This organization is all about making you feel like you are not alone when diagnosed with this disease. I will be forever grateful to them and will do everything I can to help them help other people see light in the darkness while living through the nightmare of Cancer.”

Adds Executive Director, Sandy Obodzinski: “We are so grateful that Janey chose to support Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee with her CD launch concert.  Every day, someone walks through our doors for the first time in need of cancer support, and Janey’s commitment to Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee will help ensure that we can continue to deliver community and social support at no charge.”
