A Message from Our Board Chair

Hello, Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee Friend and Champion.

As Board Chair of Gilda’s, I’m reaching out to share some news, before it’s shared more broadly in the coming days. Our President and CEO Sandy Obodzinski will be leaving her post after more than three years leading our cancer support organization. Sandy’s departure is for personal reasons; her last day will be June 14.

I was a member of the Search Committee that recommended Sandy’s hiring and cannot underscore enough how much our team has appreciated her many contributions to Gilda’s. Under Sandy’s guidance, Gilda’s Club Nashville became Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee. We successfully opened our first satellite location in Williamson County. Our brand recognition continues to improve, and our budget has grown nearly 30 percent. And we added several highly talented staff. Sandy is an exceptional person, and we wish her the very best in her pursuits.

Our Executive Committee and Board of Directors have begun working to identify an interim leader, as well as initiated a search process for a permanent CEO to lead Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee. After more than a week of meetings with our staff, I’m pleased to share that our entire team is excited about what has been accomplished and eager to address the challenges ahead. Our Board is committed to hiring a dynamic leader who will build on our successes and ensure our incredible cancer-support programs are available and accessible throughout Middle Tennessee.

During this time (and always), our board and staff remain committed to making sure no one in our community has to face cancer alone. On behalf of our entire board, THANK YOU for all you do to make Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee the remarkable community that we are, and may your blessings be many this summer and beyond.
