Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee Welcomes New Board Members

NASHVILLE, TN., August 9, 2021 – Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee, a Nashville-based non-profit dedicated to providing support, education and hope to anyone impacted by cancer, including family and friends of those diagnosed, recently welcomed three new members to its Board of Directors.

“Each of these individuals brings diverse capabilities and a unique perspective that will help us continue to deliver our free cancer support program in the best ways possible,” said Harriet Schiftan, MSW, MAJCS, president and CEO of Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee. “My thanks to our Governance and Nominating Committee, led by Rachel Goodrich of HCA Healthcare, for its continuing efforts in outreach and recruitment of such passionate, talented and committed leaders.”

Joining the Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee Board as of July 15 are:

• Rae Hirsch, Community Leader
• Jannis Muscato, Executive Director, Human Resources, Vanderbilt University Medical Center

Stuart Hall, Consultant
Stuart Hall has more than 30 years of progressive experience in public and private accounting within the manufacturing, restaurant, and technology industries. He most recently served as chief financial officer and minority owner of Safe Step Walk-In Tub Co. in Nashville. The company was sold in July 2018 to Ferguson Enterprises, upon which time Hall was promoted to president, a role he held until November 2020. Hall is currently assisting others as a consultant and looks forward to offering expertise in accounting and finance, operations, and marketing to the Gilda’s Club Board. He holds a Bachelor of Art degree in economics from Wake Forest University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Richmond. Hall and his family have called Nashville home since 2007.

Rae Hirsch, Community Leader
Rae Hirsch has more than 30 years of non-profit, volunteer leadership experience. Previously, she served as president of the National Council of Jewish Women, Nashville Section; on the leadership team that launched the Temple Arts Festival, a six-year event that raised over $100,000 annually; and on the boards of Jewish Family Service, Temple Ohabai Sholom, Jewish Federation of Middle Tennessee and the Gordon Jewish Community Center. Most recently, Hirsch has served for two years as chair of Gilda’s Club’s biggest annual fundraiser, the Red Door Bash, which raised over $211,000 in 2020 and is on track to achieve its revenue goals for 2021. Hirsch is a cancer survivor who is passionate about fundraising for Gilda’s Club. She and her family have called Nashville home since 1980.

Jannis Muscato, Executive Director, Human Resources, Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Jannis Muscato is a New York native, who relocated to Nashville in 2012 via South Florida. A human resources professional with more than 30 years of experience, she is executive director of Human Resources at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and owner/founder of Lynn HR Consulting, LLC. Muscato has a long- standing relationship with Gilda’s Club. Among other things, she served on the Gilda’s Club Williamson County Advisory Board until 2020 and soon after joined Gilda’s Club’s Program Committee, where she currently serves. Muscato holds a Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Palm Beach Atlantic University and brings expertise in organizational leadership, HR operations and business strategy.
